Winter By The Sea

Winter is here. I say that, but I'm typing this on a beautifully sunny afternoon without a cloud in the sky. However, yes, being by the sea during these months can have its challenges.
The 'sea breeze' becomes a cruel whip to the face when you're already struggling to keep your hood up or your hat on. Sometimes it can feel a little bleak if things are quiet and rainy, especially as Margate is so famous for its beach and summer season. Honestly, I really struggle to deal with winter sometimes.

However, to get through it, I've learnt to make the most of the natural beauty this area has to offer - it really does look amazing in every season! There are lots of stunning sunsets during the winter and I have been admiring the rainbow skies over Arlington House regularly. I've also taken great pleasure in coat shopping to help matters, as well as treating myself to the occasional Dalby Café full English breakfasts to, you know, keep my strength up or something. It's not all bad; it's just about making yourself comfortable, cosy and perhaps going for some of those so-called 'bracing' walks on the sand to feel better.

Here's some photos I've taken on my phone around Margate over the last few months...

So my advice for getting through winter is to appreciate what's around you and if it makes you feel better, do it. Buy yourself a fancy new scarf so you can wrap up warm and over-indulge in luxury hot chocolates; it'll all be over soon.

See you on the beach!
