Planet Thanet Easter Beer Festival

Oh Easter, you are too good to us.
Not only is there an excuse to eat a stupid amount of chocolate (provided it is egg-shaped), it's also time for the annual resurrection of the Planet Thanet Easter Beer Festival!
This year it's the tenth one and once again, it is being held at Margate Winter Gardens.

Organised by Thanet CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale), the festival is being held over the start of the Easter weekend (Good Friday 3rd April and Saturday 4th April) and features over 200 real ales, cider and perry. There's a range of entertainment being put on, with live music throughout the two-day festival, as well as a giant pub quiz on the Saturday. There's plenty of food (hot and cold) available including stalls offering local produce.

I'm not really a beer drinker yet I've attended this event many times. Why? Behold, the cider stall. Oh and also because everyone seems to go. The festival draws in giant crowds every year so you're bound to bump into people you know! It really does seem to bring people together and is great fun. The Winter Gardens is an ideal venue; in previous years when the weather has been good, my friends and I have sat on the grass outside enjoying a few drinks in the sun. There's a lovely atmosphere; I've always found it very informal and relaxed.

It's free for CAMRA card carrying members. For everyone else, it's £5 to attend on Friday (open 12pm-9.30pm) and £3 on Saturday (12pm-8pm).  Do drink responsibly - some of the drinks are very strong! And obviously, please use public transport.
