Fort's Café

A few weeks ago I woke up and quickly realised that only bacon would do. I made the short walk up from Margate seafront and found myself at Fort's Café.

Just past the Winter Gardens and pretty much opposite the Lido, it was my second visit to Fort's and like the first time, it did not disappoint. What I like about the place is that it is reasonably priced and the food, while being tasty, also provides a real sense of quality. The imagination that goes into the unique creations that are available sets Fort's apart from other breakfast/brunch/lunch establishments. They produce doughnuts (flavours ranging from lemon curd to Jack Daniels), ice cream and offer beverages that you wouldn't see in your average café, for example craft beers.

Anyway, here's the food.

Those are rosemary sea salted chips.

Fort's embraces versatility by running quizzes and other pop-up events. One of these led to my discovery of the beauty that is The Burger Brothers. In a couple of weeks it is going to be transformed into a Japanese cafe for the evening, courtesy of top chef Yuhi Nakano. Unfortunately this event sold out quickly but I'm sure there will be lots more exciting things to come at Fort's!

Go, go now! Well, as long as you're reading this on a Thurs-Sun
and between the hours of 10 am and 3 pm.
